What an epic win! The Indian batminton team made history in Thailand as they beat Indonesia by a score of three to nothing to lift the coveted Thomas and Uber Cup trophy. Wins for Kidambi Srikanth, Lakshya Sen and the doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty sealed a memorable victory against the competing nation that has won the tournament fourteen times. Many termed it as Indian badminton’s ‘1983 moment.’ The victory triggered a flurry of emotions on social media, with popular personalities flooding the time to congratulate the team. Before this, India had never even reached the final of the Thomas and Uber Cup in the tournament’s history. But the Indian men’s badminton team not only broke the drought but came back with the trophy. India is now only the 6th nation after China, Indonesia, Japan, Denmark, and Malaysia to win the Thomas Cup title.
